While unpleasant, this is a topic we feel clarification is needed on.
Generally speaking, this is a cooperative narrative experience, which means that nearly all parts of the game revolve arround interacting with fellow players and GMs. On that note, we hope every player read the "How to Lose" in the core rulebook.
Since this isn't just a weekly gathering of friends where one can just stop inviting a disruptive player, we needed to think of ways to adress such situations in a way that is fair to everyone, including the GM staff.
OOC:
This is perhaps the most dangerous part of the forum. Here, player-perspectives often conflict and are discussed.
Discussions are allowed, no matter the topic.
Yes, that includes discussion about GM calls. If you have a lengthy critique, we however actually encourage you to save it and post it at the end of the game, where we will make a sub-forum availible for that particular purpose, in order to pay it the nessessary attention.
What we don't want to see are fights. When you sign up for registration, you agree that you are old/wise enough to know the difference between a dicussion and a flamewar. If a discussion invokes bad feelings, such as anger or discomfort, you should be asking the players in question to take the discussion to private channels. If that does not help, you should either be able to simply let the OOC be for a while, or inform the GMing staff to have a look at the situation if you believe it warrants intervention.
Posts that directly attack another player will not be tolerated. Even if you think you are being witty by not calling a name. This is supposed to be a friendly, cooperative game. And if you make that impossible, we will remove you. That includes unnessessarily dragging a personal debate out in the open in order to force a reply from another player. As a general rule of thumb, if you can discuss a disagreement in private, you should.
IC:
Believe it or not, it is actually rather hard to get banned for IC behaviour. There is a catch however:
Sometimes, players like to spice up their characters with things such as racism and sexism. Note that, in doses, that is quite alright - nobody is perfect, and it makes for a much more meaningful story if such shortcomings are overcome. A good example is Gimli of the Lord of the Rings, whos position on elves shifts thorought his experience with them, despite starting quite racist.
However, sometimes, such a thing can be taken too far. And while we do not need to debate that leaving someone to die in a fire just because of their gender or race is hardly heroic, there are some finer lines that depend on each and every person experiencing them.
Players are free to not join in roleplay with players/characters that make them uncomfortable. In essence, this means that if your character overdoes it, people will likely stop joining your character stories, or perhaps even refuse to help you in the season story.
It should also be noted that this includes GMs. This is one of the "soft" ways to be banned from the game, mostly because it's a consequence for the character instead of player. A GM that does not want to handle your character will ask another GM to do it. This continues until the character in question has run out of GMs willing to provide for said character. At that point, you will not be able to participate in any way that needs GM involvement. Due to Season 1's more strict GM involvement, you are encouraged to talk to your fellow players and GMs prior to this point if you notice people taking issue with your character, or attempt a different, perhaps less controversial one after.
Real World Nationalism/Religion:
We are playing on Théa, not earth. Our vikings aren't actually vikings, our polish huskars aren't actually polish huskars, and so forth. If you cannot leave real world nationalism at the door, please, do not enter this game. The same applies to religions. If you are proud of your countries heritage, and dislike another country due to proximity and/or recent/long bygone history, we expect to not find out during this game. If you have the one true faith, and love to point out the horrible histories other faiths are guilty of, do it someplace else.
