Having a similar stat-line is not all that disadvantageous. I'd only worry if all skills, advantages, and backgrounds are the same. But even then, what matters is your approach. Remember that firearms are arround. If you want a soldier that does not use brawn, you could go for the master gunner or gunman position, using agility and wits instead. As a lone survivor, resolve seems fitting in the mix! Also, let's not forget there is merit in a brawn 4 teamup.

Watching that video again is really all I needed to decide that it would be a fine matchup. I'll see about actually writing stuff down!
And the surname thing, too.

Maybe flip resolve and brawn arround, for brawn 3 and resolve 4. It feels the same, but it sets you apart! Also, with resolve 4, "survivor" is the adequate description for someone who simply refuses to die, no matter the odds.

It's been a while, but I seem to remember that von Wische would imply nobility of the Wische province. However, I had a list of all the NPCs in the Freiburg box set, and looking at that showed that they just used sufficiently German surnames. You could probably get away with using the random name generator from Behind the Name to get a random german surname.

Hi there, One thing I've noticed is that most people aren't putting their Nation and Religion on their submissions. For most, I can guess the Nation and get a probable religion from that, but it's easier if people say it As a side note, since it may help, the submitted characters are lacking in the strong and the tough. We're also pretty inept at fistfights and battles. What we do have is Finesse and athletics, and everyone has some ability to spot stuff.

As far as I can tell, there has been no duelist yet?
Which is actually pretty nice because it means Llama can design "combat" stories without fussing over action economy of duelists and make them enjoyable for everyone that picked up a weaponry skill.
I understand that nation probably should be noted down somewhere (as you said, people can guess), but Im actually a little bit conflicted on the religion. On one hand, total transparency in character sheets, sure, on the other, its not really a rule thing and more of something that people should get to know of each other IC.
I mean, I wear an iron cross Heiligen on a chain around my neck. That doesnt mean flounder because thats very eisen and a good portion of us do that, even though we do both vacinite and objectionistm in terms of religion.
It's of course open for everyone to "out" themselves for one religion or another, but I feel thats more of a personal decision than a rule-binding one.

I envision Amerigo becoming a duelist one day, but I don't think it made sense for him to start with it.

The reason I mentioned Nation and Religion was because they are on the Character Sheet provided in the core book, after Concept and before Reputation.
