Bo'sun on the Hangman, Jovis has been serving on the ship as long as any man - or woman - aboard. He knows the vessel inside out, and takes the job of 'interpreting' the commands of the officers very seriously; he has a sergeant's instinct for selective deafness and the experience and aptitude to get away with it.
His preferred weapon is a stout cudgel, but he usually carries a cat o'nine tails as well. That said, in common with most of the vessel, he avoids using a weapon where a fist would do. Much of his respect aboard ship stems from his ability to drink anyone under the table, and an almost unblemished reputation of being the last man standing over a lifetime of bar brawls.
His views of his new captain are easy to read: she has some of her old man's spirit, but hasn't yet proven herself to this old sea dog.

Story:
Not yet fleshed out, but I'm considering the following:
Challenge: Black Dave, one of the Hangman's crew members has been locked up in a Montaigne jail.
Outcome: Either the crew member is rescued, or executed (hanged?).
A 3 step story to gain the Foul Weather Jack advantage.
First step - ask around the docks to work out which prison Black Dave has been carted off to.
