Current order!
Friederike (Weaponry/Resolve): 4 raises La Moruna (Weaponry/Panache): 4 raises Alex (Warfare/Brawn): 3 raises Amerigo (Hide/Wits): 3 raises Finn (Notice/Finesse): 3 raises Blaise (Aim/Resolve): 2 raises Francois (Convince/Resolve): 1 raise
I hope everyone familiarized themselfs with action sequences. Rules of thumb: Most raises go first. As there's no villain involved (yet), you are simply faced with the brute squads. They are somewhat akin to a risk: Failure to "solve" them has the "consequences" of them inflicting their remaining strength in wounds to a hero!

With the panic all arround, it's hard to organize a defense, which is something the brutes counted on. And while a good number are directly charging whatever's closest to them, a seperate group circles arround a little, as if waiting for the perfect chance to engage.
The merchants and travellers are quick to look for ways to escape, but the prepared assailants quickly are upon them. A bit in the back, a young womans scream can be heard, whereas the front is filled with the curses of the first merchant, trapped between the barricade and his now broken wooden cart.
You are faced with 4 strength 3 squads directly charging you. These people seem to be contend to rob for valuables and create chaos - but they are hardly all there is to this attack, as there are figures about in the woods and those of the attackers that seem to just circle the trapped caravan.
You may begin to alter the situation using your raises! In general, if you have the same amount as someone else, you go at the same time!

Shaking her head as the men keep charging, Leonor just advances, throwing herself to the middle of them. Surprised as the petite woman just seems to mess between them, chaos spreads between their numbers, and soon they start stumbling between each other.
As they start cutting each other, it seems unwise to keep swinging knives and swords around, forcing them to start punching and kicking their way towards La Moruna. Whistling a flamengo tune, the priest evades the blows as she carefully and precisely hits their hands, disarming them, or their knees, throwing them to the ground.
(4 raises to inflict 4 wounds, effectively removing La Moruna and one squad from the scene)

Blaise listens then sticks his head out of the window. "You on the roof! Can you see that screaming girl? What's wrong with her and can anyone help? Also, don't worry about me."
Pulling his head back inside the body of the carriage, Blaise grips his knife grimly on his right hand and cuts across the heel of his left. Blood flows freely, and he drops the knife to smear it over both of his hands. The scent of blood only increases as he digs his fingers into the nature of reality, which briefly shrieks as he tears open a bloody hole. It only takes a moment to plunge a hand through and come back holding an ornate pistol. Blaise sighs with relief as he lets the wound close.
Stepping down out of the carriage, Blaise points his pistol, held in a bloody hand, at the nearest bandit, who quickly decides he doesn't want shot and disappears back out of sight.

As the fencing priestess danced into the first Bandits, I took a few Steps away from the carriage to give my sword some air to breathe. My mission was clear: No one would touch the wagons in my vicinity. The first bandit came running with a club in hand, his face filled with grim determination to fight and kill. Sidestepping his wild swings, I growled at him and used the hilt of my sword to his midsection. His sluggishly blocking club didn't stand a chance. He winced and turned back. The next one, coming out of the chaos induced by the priestess' dance, saw how easily I've dealt with his comrade and just looked at me. I faced him with my sternest and fiercest look, shouting 'Run or you regret it!' and swinging my sword around me to ready it for his attack. Looks like that's enough for that fella! The other bandits, spread out to the left and right avoiding her great sword. A few circling around to charge on further, others choosing to go for the loot instead of the trouble. I raise my sword in preparation, as one came running at our carriage from the side. Suddenly he stops, throwing down his weapon and running back whence he came with a curse. A look over my shoulder revealed my contractor had stepped out of the carriage, scaring away another bandit with a pistol. 'Good call!,' I shouted after him, giving a nod to Blaise. 1 Raise to inflict non-lethal wound to a squad 1 Raise to scare one away Down to 2 Raises now. Edit: Here's the unedited version

Post by Alex L. Ehrenwall on Nov 6, 2016 11:26:11 GMT
'It's good to have such extraordinary Ladies at my side', Alexander thought to himself, as he watched the magnificent dance of the priestess, who had stopped a whole group of bandits in their tracks. But it was not the time to admire. Leaving the middle part to the priestess and the back of the caravan to Friederike who was cutting down the bandits that dared to step to close to the wagons, Alex redirected his charge into his usual, springy jog. There was no need for him to get into the midst of the fight anymore, so he started to look around, his eyes assessing the situation: The Ladies looked like they would hold their ground without much trouble. As a matter of fact, most of the immediatly attacking bandits had already been stopped, felled or turned running. But something was amiss. There were still Bandits in the nearby forest, who had made no attempt to rush in at the first commanding shout. Others were circling the caravan at a distance, not entering the fray either. They were planning something, waiting for something, but Alex couldn't put his finger on it.
Well, Alexander Ludwig "The Panzerfist" Ehrenwall would surely not back down from whatever the brignads had in store for the caravan. But first they needed order in their ranks. And a center of communication. "Herr(Mister) Nibelsang! Please keep an eye out for the circling lowlifes! Shout when they make a move! We are counting on you!", he shouted over his shoulder to the scholar, who had climbed ontop of the wagons. 'It's always good to know who you're traveling with', his grandfather used to say and Alexander had made sure to greet every man and woman in the caravan.
'Now about the merchant rabble.', Alex thought. Taking a deep breath, he turned to the caravan. Throwing his fist into the air once more, Alexander shouted: "Everyone! The enemy has prepared for this, we stand no chance alone! Merchants and travellers! We guards will hold the line, but I need you, to stand together, pick up your courage and whatever weapon you can find. Do not let these lowlifes take your hard earned money, nor your lives! Work together! Fight together!"
Hearing his rallying shout, the more courageous merchants and travellers looked reassured, grabbing makeshift clubs, knifes and other possible weapons and banding together in small groups. Others started to climb onto their wagons, imitating Finn. At the very least, most stopped trying to run away on their own.
1 raise to rally the civilians into less of a mess!
Reason for Edit: reduced to one action because im too stooopid to read the rulebook properly...

Ducking and weaving through the chaos of battle, Francois narrowly avoids being skewered by one of the more enthusiastic attackers by dropping into a baseball slide under the horizontal slash of the mans blade. As the man continues on towards the caravan, Francois comes back up to his feet and spots a man fleeing from the battle, leaving his companion glancing around the battlefield in two minds as to what he should do.
"You don' be needin' a bullet for your troubles today. Follow him home, no one will remember you were here. No judgment or repercussions, in fact if you come seek me out at le Petite Charouse in a day or two, I'll make sure you're looked after, you and whatever family you're doing this for. Don't orphan your kids out of pride and desperation, it's a hard road that would set them upon."
The swordsman seems to soften for a moment before nodding in agreement, a little uncertain about Francois' promise of aid, but certain enough that he didn't want to leave his family in an even worse position should he get seriously wounded or even killed here today. HE too drops his sword and retreats into the woodlands to make his way to a much safer location away from the fight.
(OOC: 1 raise used to 'deal 1 damage' to Friederike's Brute Squad reducing their strength to 0)

Finn already got up on his wagon, ready to charge to the front, when he heard the womans scream. With his flawless eyesight, he quickly scouted out the trapped merchant in front. While clearly in need for help, he seemed relativly save for the moment, what with the priestress spreading chaos, and Frederike and Alex taking them apart in the front. Even the child seemed to do well in assissting the bandit takedown. The nobleman in the cart in front of him also seemed to share this notion, yelling at him to check for the girl, before summoning a pistol out of seemingly thin air and a bloody rift.
Sorcery. Very interesting, very intriguing, sadly a theme for later.
"I cant see her right now, lets see if I can change that." he replied to Blaise.
Quickly turning on his heel, instead of to the front, Finn leaped to the back, making his way over the wagons towards the source of the frightened woman.
(1 raise to reach and find the source of the womans scream, down to 2)

Finn manages to make out an opertunity: A young woman is currently struggleing with an assailant that is trying her best to drag her towards the forest. The woman's fighting tooth an nails, quite literally, but the assailant has already gained some ground and is gaining more by the second.

Finn sees the woman in distress, and bites his lips. So far away already, and the merchant in front still trapped. But there are many resourceful fighters out there, how have they not noticed the girl by now? Clearly they were distracted. But why capture hostages when valuable goods were right in front of them? Slavery? That was not legal in these lands as far as he knew, but then again neither was robbery.
This would take too much time to do on his own. The intelligent approach was informing those closer, instead of going out himself. Quickly flipping his whip, he created a loud, metallic crack to attact attention of anyone still capable of hearing over the battle frey. "That girl is being captured! Do not let that happen!" He yells, pointing his hand and whip into the direction of the assailant and girl. "I will help the merchant up front, but SOMEONE please help her, fast!"
With that, he turns, wishing upon his Heiligen that these people dont just look competent, but are able to act on it as well, as he starts tumbling along the wagons to the front, towards the trapped man and the fallen tree.
(Spending 1 raise to create opportunity : Save the girl! A maiden in distress is in dire need of help! A well aimed pistol shot, a ravaging charge, a delicate trickery, all possible options to save the day. For a raise, you can save not just wealth, but life as well! Opportunity open to everyone currently involved in the battle sequence, I guess. Further spending 1 raise to investigate the merchant up front, leaving me at 0 raises)

The merchant in front is in more trouble than is apparant, as he is not only trapped, but injured as well. Despite his originally loud cursing, he seems to be running out of steam, and air, as his chest is compressed between a heavy wagon and a hard barrier. His face is already starting to turn from red to a light purple shade, as his paniced efforts to free himself rob him of his last ressources.
Your investigation already opens the opertunities for your fellow heroes, as long as you chose to communicate it.

A girl in distress, and now a suffocating merchant, these bandits really went and done it.
"I need help over here!" He yells out, jumping off the wagon and hurrying to the front. "Stay calm, and stay with me" he quickly conveys to the man. He glances over the toppled wagon. From his position, he would not be able to get it off him, but by tying Peitsche around the side currently residing on the merchant, and throwing it to the other side, he could get a leverage to lift the cart high enough to pull the man out. However, if he was on the other side of the cart himself, should the merchant faint in the meantime he would not be able to realize and would just crush him if he were to drop the cart again. No, he needed to stay put and pull that man out given the opportunity. Quickly tying the whip to an axis of the cart, throwing the handle part over it to the other side, he once again shouted for help. "SOMEONE pull that whip as hard as possible so I can get him out!" is his plea towards the frightened peasents and merchants, who struggle to get a good grip. Meanwhile, Finn grabs the trapped mans hand. "Stay with me, here. Calm your breathing, everything is going to be ok." Or so he hoped. To scared to listen, or to weak to get a good grip, only a few of the fellow merchants even try reaching for the whips grip, dangling on heads height over the toppled cart.
(Opportunity presented: A pressing fate: The merchants are currently in too much disarray to be of much help. If noone interjects and causes a proper pull, or some other way to lift the cart, the merchant wont be rescued in time, and may suffer permanent damage, if not death.)
