Leonor rushes towards wounded nobleman, taking a look. She frowns, eyes flickering with suspicion. "I was surrounded by too many burly men to notice, but sir, how did you manage to get such a nasty gash so far away from the fight? Did you try to catch a francesca* with your bare hands." Her lips thinned, knowing the more likely explanation. This was sorcerer country after all. *throwing axe [This part of the conversation will need to be part way through my previous post] "I'm afraid it was self-inflicted, Mother [which is a guess at the feminine version of Father for a priest], but M Nibelsang here thinks he can at least staunch it. Would you care to join us?" Meanwhile, Vivianne seems content to follow the man in his obviously guarded carriage, quickly taking a seat to allow her body to recover from what she just went though. "Thank you, kind sir." she spoke in a soft voice "The eye of a noble is an eye for details, as my father uses to say. I'm travelling to the court, yes, but only to return to my father who will attend to it for... ah, reasons that are beneath your ears, I am sure. He's a jewelier - one of the best - and so he attends out of business interest. I am sure, that... perhaps..." she trailed off a bit, falling silent for a moment "I am sure he will be thankful for your assistance today. I know I am." "C'est rien, it's nothing," Blaise declares, "It behooves a gentleman to go to the aid of a fair maiden. But, it is with great regret that I must contradict you. Being a jeweller - one of the best, no less - at the court of the Sun King is no shameful thing, because he must by default be one of the best in the entire world! And I already know that he is responsible for a great beauty." He takes a sip of his brandy and savours it, "But I really need to ask for some assistance from my companions, there is no way I could finish this bottle on my own!"

"I am grateful for you assistance, sir." La Moruna replies, moving besides Finn in case he needs help. "However, I would advocate for the good of your soul if you refrained to use Legion's "gifts" recklessly. I'm sure you understand how sorcery can just make a bad situation worse."

"I must disagree with you on a couple of issues there. Firstly, everything in creation exists because of Theus, and since his plans are ineffable we cannot say that the existence of Sorcery is not a direct result of his plans. Secondly, everyone is obliged to use their talents, rather than hide them under a bushel. I have a talent with a very rare ability, surely it would be a sin not to use it for the betterment of humankind? Had I not acted as I did, using the talents I had to hand, poor Madamoiselle Noire here would quite probably be in the clutches of those bandits and whatever they planned to do with her. Speaking of which, I am beginning to think that the entire reason for the attack was the acquisition of Mlle Noire here. I think we need to know a bit more."

"It is not a matter for discussion, my good sir." "Just because sulfur, charcoal and saltpepper are all natural products of the world laid for us exploration and discovery by the great Grace of Theus, that does not mean you should not be careful with their use and reckless on its application, just as a shot should not be throw away for frivolous reasons. Just remember there are wounds that you can't close, and lines that once you cross you can never go back. Always keep Love in your heart and let it guide your actions; not the gunpowder on your blood."
Pondering about the theory laid by Blaise, the priestly scientist ponders. It is true that there were many rich purses to take on this confusion, but that would only make the distraction more efficient. Did they kidnap the girl out of opportunity? Or was she a ransom target all along?
"Mademoiselle Noire, can this be true? Do you have such enemies that would go to these lengths?"
Or more likely, one of her relatives has the enemies.

The woman, that was completely lost on a theological, or perhaps philosophical discussion seemed suprised to suddenly get drawn into the spotlight.
"I.. I can't fathom who would want to do this to me." she originally brought forth, before giving it a moments thought and adding with a guilt-filled voice "Perhaps... I've turned down a few... suitors... in the past. But I cannot imagine one of them to actually do this... or be able to do this. Most of them had respectable crafts, and the ones that did not were local no-goods that would not venture beyond their towns walls."
She bit her lip "And while I at times run errands for father, he never hands me the merchandise or too much money. I think he's..." she begins again, her voice shivering "I think he just wanted to protect me from... from something like this."
Her eyes tear up as she tries to hide it behind her hands "Theus, I must be the worst daughter in the world..." she brings forth between attempts to hold her desire to cry at bay

Upon reaching Blaise's carriage, Alex overheard the others talking. "Now, now let's not pester the poor woman with such unpleasant questions right after such a harsh experience.", he said. "We can still talk about the whys and hows when we have arrived in Charouse. The caravan seems to be ready to move on. Should we?"
