This reminded me that while I set up "languages" rules on some forums I advertised on, I failed to make official rulings on here!
Consider that rectified!

I've just now opened a sub-forum for people to post and discuss their rough character drafts. Note that you really don't need to be concerned about privacy, as character sheets will be open to everyone anyway! The test story is going well so far, and has given us invaluable insights. If you have read it, what are your thoughts on it? The calls, the style, the system?

Since I am now invested in the SW game, I'd like to know in advance what's the scheduling here so that I know when I need to report here with a character to get on board. Character submission, game start? Perhaps it's stated somewhere but the kind of board layout used here I am not too familiar with and browsing is harder.

I will open to character submission next week. I've gotten the hang of my work scedules by now, and perperations are well underway for the season story! Plus, I'd rather not keep all of you nice folks hanging in the air much longer. In the meantime, you can post your drafts in the non-binding drafts forum! I know from talking to individuals there's been a lot of interest in having a ship / a position on a ship, so I highly advise you get together to pool ressources and ideas. I'd personally love to see a player-owned ship with more than a skelleton PC crew - even if it might not come up that much in season 1 aside from character stories!

OK, so my wife and I spent several hours during a long drive getting our heads around the new system yesterday.
I really love the flexibility of Approaches. But I'm struggling with how to build Resolve into approaches. Outside of possibly Resolve/Intimidate, Resolve is pretty much a reactive/defensive trait, which makes it difficult to see how to use it in an Approach. Can anyone share some thoughts on how to make Resolve more proactive?

When you tough it out, when you stick to something for a prolonged time, when you just do not give in - it is time to base it off resolve.
Rolling convince with resolve is just not quitting the debate, staying adamant and flattening the opponent beneath your prolonged explanations. Or to impress someone with your conviction.
Empathy when you will not give up on finding out if it is "really not bugging" him/her.
Intimidate to stare down enemies with unwavering resolve.
Aim to wait, for hours or days, for the perfect shot to appear. Wether you move in the meantime or not.
Notice to stay awake for all three shifts of the night guard without missing a thing. Or when you inspect every square inch of a crimescene for anything and everything.
Perform to perform acts of incredible endurance, OR to let the audience get the shivers from your theatre performances spirit.
Ride for extended rides, through horrible conditions - like a storm, or archer fire. You tough it out.
Scholarship for the results of hours or weeks of tireless research.
Warfare to manage a battle tirelessly, through days and nights, supervising strategies without end for however long it's gonna take. Or to inspire a daring, if not suicidal, attack. To have everyone stand tall in a last stand. Troops will follow a charismatic leader into battle. But they will follow a resolved leader into the jaws of hell.
Just to give a few examples I thought of off the top of my head. Your imagination is the limit, and more often than not, it's dependant on context. If you want to play a hero with high resolve, but fear that it might not be as useful as other traits, fear not. It's all depending on how you play it. And if you feel you're not getting the hang of it, I'll also be happy to help in whatever capacity I can.
